Rain Down

I get excited when it rains, gleeful and joyous when it pours. I run downstairs, do a little rain dance and shout "It's raining!" then trot a few unplanned laps around the house: down the hall, through the kitchen, through the living room to the entry way, and repeat until the centrifugul energy propels me out the front door. I'm dumbfounded by my ordinarily simple, boring, green suburban lawn, now covered with sheets of ever fidgeting water, a hundred million shining pearls. It looks as if the world has been refinished by it's maker, buffed and polished so that it gleams. The air too, is new again, more pure than pristine, fresh and satisfying. Joy is in the air.

That is remarkably like my rain dance, except that my rain dance involves getting outside as fast as possible! Yeah, I was hyper and happy too. Yay for rain!

(I also found out via the Internet, after coming home for the weekend and rejoicing in the rain, that my dorm had its first fire drill at 1:30 a.m. in the rain. Yeah, I think I prefer the voluntary sort of going outside in the rain.)

Ahh, glorious rain. (that was quite a tasty description, and much lighter in mood than much of your work often is) I don't get that excited by the rain, but I do enjoy scuffling through a light mist as the drops descend, growing in force and number as the minutes wind on. (unless it causes flooding... then I dread Poseidon's rage)

Pshah, 1:30 AM fire drills? Last year, it seemed like at least once every two weeks, somewhere between 12-4AM, some idiot (word used in the context of the very irritable and sleep deprived mindset) would accidentally set off the very sensitive fire alarms. We heaped curses upon his head, condemning his or her first born to be captured by Pirate Pygmies. Thankfully, it seems they have fixed that problem, because I haven't had that many fire alarms this year... and we were running out of willing mini marauders.
